So sad to hear of Annie’s passing – I can only imagine how difficult it must be for everyone. I’ll always remember her warm smile, endless amounts of energy – carrying me around for far too long and racing me up the stairs (in her 80s!!) – matching outfits on holidays, how I looked forward to my parents going away so I could have 24/7 Annie Bannanie time, the Hazel McCallion look alike comments, her helping “a little old lady†cross the street (20 years her junior) and her ability to make me laugh no matter how hard I tried to sulk. She took wonderful care of our family, spoiled me more than my parents would have liked and will always be very special to me – she’s part of my earliest memories and I don’t think I’d be who I am today without the love and attention she gave. Just shy of 104, I think it’s safe to say she had a pretty amazing life – which I know was filled with love, laughter and lots of happiness. Joan, I hope you find comfort in knowing that so many people hold fond memories of your mother and she touched so many lives – she was quite a remarkable woman. Next time I’m back in Toronto it would be great to visit you, as I’m so sad to have missed the funeral. Thinking of you and sending lots of love.
