It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Bruce Allan Baker at the age of 86 at Muskoka Landing, Huntsville.
Born February 9, 1929 to the late Seymour and Irene (Watson) Baker.
Dear father of Tammy and her husband Howard, Jay and his partner Vennessa, Dave and his wife Jamie.
Proud grandfather of Jessica, Wesley, Nathan, Faith, Cassidy, Peyton and DJ. Great-grandfather of 2.
Brother of Shirley Rand, Donna Rollins, Gord Baker, Marilyn Hammond and Mel Baker. Pre-deceased by siblings Arnold, Eleanor, Okal, Marvin and grand-daughter Rachel.
Remembered by many nieces and nephews and forever remembered by Linda (John) and her family. Also fondly remembered by many close family friends.
Dad was born and raised in Huntsville, ON and loved it so much he never left. He was a hard-worker and some of his jobs included travelling with one of the carnivals and working for Wright’s Taxi and Hubble’s Mill but for more than 25 years he was a custodian for the Board of Education. Lots of the Huntsville Public School students will remember years of enjoying the skating rink that he made and maintained on his own time. He also took pride in taking care of the maintenance for the owners of several local homes.
Dad enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo, re-finishing wood furniture and watching the Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. Dad was very proud of his family and their accomplishments. He will be sadly missed.
We wish to thank not only the many doctors, nurses and caregivers but everyone who was involved in Dad’s care over the last two years, including the behind-the-scenes workers within reception, dietary, cleaning, activities, administration, etc. Special thanks to Rogers Cove, Country Moments and Muskoka Landing. Dad was blessed with some pretty special nurses and PSW’s who it is evident pour their heart into their job. Thank you!!
Visitation for Bruce Baker will be held at the Mitchell Funeral Home on Thursday, October 22, from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held in the “Addison Chapel” of the Mitchell Funeral Home on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment at Hutcheson Memorial Cemetery, Huntsville. Following the interment, a reception will take place in Partner’s Hall of the Algonquin Theatre.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Algonquin Grace Hospice in Huntsville.
