I am so very sorry to just now be learning of the loss of my Aunt Ebba. I lost touch with her many years ago after my parents death. I still have such wonderful memories of her and my Uncle Doug. She was an amazing women. She could do anything, swim across the lake, catch fish, clean them and cook them, drive a snow machine and of course make the best bread you ever ate. Rest in peace my lovely Aunt.

So sorry to hear we had lost Ebba. Years ago we went to Alaska on a cruise. What a great memory she left me with. One of many that make me smile. Dorset Seniors club could always count on Ebba to make the club a better place to socialize. She gave so much and asked for very little in return. Miss you drear friend. To her family and friends. We have all lost a treasure.

We have often thought of our neighbour Ebba since she left Dorset. She was always gracious and we enjoyed her company and her baking too. Ebba would be happy to know her little home has had a face lift and a young family lives there with children playing in the yard. Laila misses speaking Finnish with her…Hei Do Ebba!

I was very sorry to hear of Ebba’s passing. Many of us in Dorset were not aware and would have attended the memorial. I got to know Ebba in the early 70’s when we started snowmobiling and continued to do so for many years as a group. She was sooo fascinating and interesting to talk to. As others have said too, I was in awe of her life. She could do anything! We were fortunate to have spent many wonderful times together in Dorset & at the cottage on Kimball. I hope you and Doug are trapping together again. Rest in peace.

When I was a kid, I always looked forward to a visit with my Aunt Ebba and Uncle Doug. They were always doing something interesting and lived in the most beautiful place. Ebba’s house in Dorset fascinated me with that trapdoor to the basement! Ebba was always full of life and humour and, to a little girl, was larger than life. Rest in peace, Ebba, and thanks for all the memories.
Sonya and Family Haase
I met Ebba when I was only 11 years old when we became her neighbours on Kimball Lake. Ebba was always a delight to see at the cottage and was very good company. She was an amazing, courages woman that I will never forget, especially all the things she did at the cottage and her homemade bread that she baked! May precious memories of Ebba fill all your hearts. Sending our condolences, Sonya, Dieter and family Haase.

We were last with Aunt Ebba at our wedding celebration a the family farm in South River in the mid 90s. Ever since I was a boy I have always been in awe of her. She carried herself with force and determination, an impression of her that has never left me. Thank you Aunt Ebba, this little nephew of yours will always be in awe of you… still.

I had many visits with Aunt Ebba over last summer and fall in which we looked at old family photos together and I read her excerpts from my mother’s diaries from the 1940’s. She really seemed to enjoy these visits and her attention barely wavered with the computer screen full of her early life’s images. I will always be grateful for these moments. Thank you so much Aunt Ebba! love Norma
