As the oldest son on Mario Pesando of Huntsville, I knew both Eddie and his father Gus since I was a child visiting my grandparents John (Jocko) and Adele. I had the good fortune to meet Eddie again in Huntsville in the fall of 2012. He was sharp as a tack!Eddie was a remarkable fellow and a good friend of my father since childhood. In fact, Eddie just recently mailed us a photo of he and my father together at age 7 taken in front of the Huntsville Public School. I have a copy of Ed’s book.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

I was fortunate to meet Ed many years ago and to keep in touch with him from time to time, if only by letter. A brilliant soul, he will certainly be missed by many. With his departure, my condolences to his loved ones. I hope an abiding sense of Ed, memories, beliefs and grieving bring comfort in time.

Dear Karin, Paul and Cathy,So sorry to hear of your father’s passing… He will be sadly missed!
Ed (married to my cousin, Reva) was an amazing musician, father and friend. He and I played in many Rotary musicals together. He was so knowledgeable and alert right into his 90’s.
Thinking of you at this very difficult time.

So sorry to learn of your loss…I do remember when I would visit Chartwell in the time my dad lived there I would have some nice chats even in the hallways with Ed on his way down the hall. So much wisdom I remember of him. A man who I believe embarrassed all the good in his life. God bless..R.I.P. Ed..and god bless his family at this time..

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your father. My father Arnold Hubbard and Ed were friends and they played music together for many years. Arnold was also a world war two veteran. I remember when I was a child listening them playing music in the basement of our house in Huntsville.

My wonderful friend for 70 years has left us and I am very sad……sad that I cannot visit and talk again and sad that I did not visit more when I could. Because every visit with Eddie was a trip down memory lane to a time in my youth when I thought Eddie was the best trumpet player I would ever know and he always was.Rest in peace, my dear friend and may “The Trumpets Sound”” for you.”

Ed and I spent many hours together chatting about Huntsville’s history. He really helped me with researching for my two books. But most of all he was a second father to me. What a gentleman who I will dearly miss.

I met your mom when I was a very young patient in Dr. Johnston’s office. Riva was very special then and even more so when her mom, ( your grandma) was a resident at Fairvern. Hilma was the reason for my meeting Ed. As the Life Enrichment Coordinator, I had the pleasure of arranging the entertainment for the gang at Fairvern. This is when Ed became involved in our department. He and the gang played many happy hours, evening dances and special events. Ed was the driving force and he made it happen every time I asked. He then moved his band over to Country Moments whenever I called. Ed was ready to share his music with everyone. A gentleman, great musician and lover of life. It was a great pleasure working with Ed, a huge big deal having him play his horn for us and an amazing experience hearing: ( of the band that played in the early years of Huntsville) . Ed touched the hearts of many with his music and knowledge. His smile however, touched the hearts of everyone. Even those that couldn’t hear his notes could see his passion in his smile. His smile I will never forget. Your dad was amazing.
Stay strong while enjoying your memories.
Treasure this incredible guy. You were truly blessed with your dad. My thoughts are with you.

Karin, Cathy and Paul:I didn’t have a lot of chats with your dad, but I do remember how lovely those that I did have were. When he heard a record on the radio that he liked, he always made a point of letting me know. Always a real Gentleman.
