The death of Marc Colvin occurred peacefully in Calgary Alberta, on Thursday, November 17, 2016
Treasured son to Jeannine Colvin and the late Bill Colvin; brother to Bill and Jamie (Jenn), loving husband to Julie, beloved father to Emma and William, and loving uncle to Cody, Brittany, Kate, Sara and Ava.
Marc grew up in Huntsville where he was a great athlete. He played Junior A hockey for the Orillia Travelways, then went on to play NCAA hockey on a scholarship at Michigan Tech University, putting much of that expertise to use helping to coach his son’s hockey team in New Liskeard, Ontario, for several years. Marc also enjoyed golf and fishing, but most especially, his family.
Marc was taken too soon. He passed peacefully with his wife and children by his side after bravely facing the immense challenges of ALS.
Today, we mourn this tremendous loss for our family, but more importantly, we celebrate and honor the privilege to have had such a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. Marc will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Marc’s hometown of Huntsville, Ontario, at Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 12 Centre Street North, Huntsville – Saturday, Nov. 26th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. – followed by a reception at the same church. Light snacks and refreshments will be available.
It would be appreciated by the family for donations to be made to the ALS society, in lieu of flowers.

Jeannine and family, I am sorry for your loss. You were very kind to me when on lived on Echo Bay Road in Huntsville. I remember your wonderful husband and also how kind you were to me when I lost my pet, Kato. You brought me a kind note and some flowers for my garden. Losing a child must be unimaginable.

I wish that there was something that I could say to take away your pain. I wish that there was something that I could say that would make sense of this immense loss to your family – and to his many good friends. I wish there was something that I could have said to have him healthy and with you still – even if for just a little while longer. But, all I have are these words – and though not enough, all I can offer is my very deepest sympathy. I will miss Marc and all the laughs that we had while working together and while golfing. I take a great measure of hope in the promise that we will have the chance to see Marc again. In a world without pain or sickness or death. What a great day that will be!I regret that I am in China this week and that cannot make it back for the memorial service. Please know that my family and I are sending our prayers and our love to you all. Tony

On behalf of me, my wife Emilie and my daughter Francesca, we want to express our most deepest sympathy for all the the Colvin family. I remember Marc as a great brother to Bill. More like two good buddies who shared a passion for sport, fitness and a great laugh. I am saddened to hear such news. I thought of Marc almost day as of late and wished him peace in his declining health. I will say a prayer for Marc’s soul to peacefully pass into heaven where his father Bill Senior will be waiting with open arms.
